Dual electric motors deliver a whopping 617 horsepower, or up to 677 horsepower with an optional performance package. The suspension and brakes have also been upgraded to improve handling, and visual modifications include different wheels and a rear spoiler.

The battery is the same as the standard EQE, but official range figures in the US aren't yet available and as usual, a significant price premium can also be expected for the privilege of owning an AMG-badged electric vehicle.

The AMG EQE is a new addition to the line-up for 2023, joining the standard Mercedes-Benz EQE, which is a younger brother to the flagship electric sedan, the EQS.

Engine, power and performance inside the 2023 Mercedes-AMG EQE

The high-performance version of the EQE has AMG-specific electric motors front and rear providing all-wheel drive.

They pump out a lot more than the standard model, with 617 bhp on tap in the base configuration and 677 bhp with the optional Dynamic Plus package. AMG claims the top version hits 60 mph in 3.2 seconds.

Fuel economy and MPEGs in the real world

The EPA hasn't released fuel economy estimates for the EQE53 yet, but it's expected to be slightly more efficient than the larger, heavier EQS53.

Infotainment and connectivity in the 2023 AMG EQE

Mercedes' huge infotainment screen, called the Hyper screen, will be optional on the AMG EQE.

It combines a digital instrument cluster with a central infotainment screen and passenger display and spans the entire dashboard. The standard infotainment setup is likely to be a head-up touchscreen.

Safety and driver assistance features within the 2023 Mercedes-AMG EQE

The EQE will likely offer many basic driver aids as standard, but more high-tech equipment will be part of the optional Driver Assistance Package. Key safety features include:

  • Standard automatic emergency braking with pedestrian detection.
  • Lane departure warning with lane keep assist.
  • Adaptive cruise control with lane centering.
