The Rivian R1T and R1S electric cars have received a new update that extends their range. A new software update has increased the depth of discharge of the battery in both the Rivian R1T electric truck and the Rivian R1S electric car, providing additional capacity from the battery.
For its part, Rivian did not disclose how much new battery capacity its cars received from the new update, especially with regard to increasing the range of Rivian electric cars, but we can look at some results from the experiences of car owners who published some of these results. via tweets on Twitter.
For example, one Rivian R1T owner reported an increase in range of about 22.5 km when the car was 85 percent charged, for an overall range increase of about 26 km when on a 100 percent charge.

Other Twitter users have confirmed that the range of Rivian electric cars has increased by about the same amount after receiving a new software update.
We also want to note that Rivian currently only offers one 135kWh battery pack, a lower priced 105kWh battery pack is expected in a few months and is now available through Rivian's official website. There is also a Max Pack with a capacity of up to 180 kWh, which has a range of about 645 km on a single charge.
However, you'll receive the Max package package with the Rivian R1T and Rivian R1S, that means paying $8,000 more, but for that money you'll also get a more powerful all-wheel drive system than the standard version.
The new Rivian software update launched on February 7 and includes other performance and system stability improvements for the Rivian R1T and Rivian R1S.
